Wounded Modesto teen continues to improve

A 13-year-old boy critically injured in a May 2 shooting in west Modesto remained hospitalized Thursday evening, but his condition continued to improve, police said.

Modesto police spokesman Sgt. Brian Findlen said a 16-year-old boy, injured in the same shooting, has been released from a hospital.

The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. while the two Modesto teenagers were riding with other people in a vehicle near Vicksburg Street and Rouse Avenue. Officers found the two boys in the 600 block of Roselawn Avenue.

It's not known how many people were in the car or why they drove to Roselawn, police said. No arrests have been made.
