A Modesto man who was arrested for being drunk in public after an officer spotted him wandering in traffic near Ninth Street initially was charged with a misdemeanor, but ended up with a far bigger case on his hands, according to a statement from the Stanislaus County district attorney's office. The authorities found that Jose Zamora, 49, also had heroin in his possession. And Zamora had been to prison four times in the past. So a judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison earlier this month.
