All northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Lander Avenue are open again after a vehicle fire stopped traffic just after noon today, according to the California Highway Patrol Web site.
There was an initial report just before noon of a vehicle on the right shoulder of the freeway and that somebody was trapped inside.
However, the Turlock Police Department, according to the CHP Web site, reported that nobody was trapped, but that there was 15 gallons of gas in the bed of the vehicle. They began directing traffic off the freeway.
By 12:20 p.m., the fire was out, and all lanes were up and running, the CHP reported.
