A 34-year-old man presumably drowned in the Stanislaus River near Strawberry on Sunday, according to the Tuolumne County sheriff's office.
Scott L. Hernandez, reportedly from Santa Clara, was in a small inflatable raft that overturned in the South Fork of the river, said Sgt. Ken Diaz of the sheriff's office. Hernandez was swept downstream.
The search-and-rescue team found Hernandez's body in the river shortly thereafter. He had been staying at his family's cabin in Cold Springs for the weekend, according to Diaz.
Foul play is not suspected. Diaz said an autopsy will be done.
