LARGE SCHOOLS

1. (1) Buhach Colony (24-6): Fell 1-0 to eventual section champ Pleasant Grove in D-I quarterfinals.

2. (2) Davis (25-6): Went 2-0 in playoffs before being bounced 5-1 by Pleasant Grove in semis.

3. (5) Oakdale (24-6): Caught fire late in the year and reached section D-IV championship game.

4. (nr) Johansen (17-9): Late run earned Vikings a playoff berth, where it fell 4-0 to Elk Grove.5. (3) Turlock (17-11): Bulldogs second-best in CCC behind No. 1 BC, with P Morgan Riddick.

SMALL SCHOOLS

1. (2) Escalon (27-4): P Caitlin Brooks leads the Cougars to school's first-ever girls' section title.

2. (1) Patterson (25-5): P Mandy Sifuentes beat Escalon 1-0 in 10 innings to force do-or-die game.

3. (5) Calaveras (25-4): Year ends with losses to Escalon (2-1) and Patterson (2-0) in D-5 playoffs.

4. (3) Hilmar (19-5): Beat Hughson in first round, only losses to Patterson (4) and Calaveras (1).

5. (4) Hughson (18-8): P Alyssa Coelho did her best, but Huskies couldn't hit in playoff opener.

BASEBALL

LARGE SCHOOLS

1. (1) Oakdale (25-5): Losing Nick Vander Tuig for the playoffs a fatal blow to two-time champs.

2. (2) Buhach Colony (18-9): CCC champs fell to eventual regional champ St. Mary's in playoffs.

3. (3) Davis (21-7): Ryan Stice was near-perfect in playoff opener, but Spartans fell 2-0 to Tracy.

4. (5) Golden Valley (15-15): Cougars play best in playoffs; District's only D-I team to win opener.

5. (nr) Enochs (17-11): Narrow loss to powerful Lincoln in first round earns Eagles this final spot.

SMALL SCHOOLS

1. (2) Central Catholic (25-6): Raiders won their 10th straight section title, going 4-0 in playoffs.

2. (1) Escalon (26-1): Late-season funk caught up to Cougars in playoffs, stunned by Calaveras.

3. (nr) Calaveras (17-8): Handing Escalon lone loss, nearly beating Central, puts Redskins here.

4. (4) Waterford (22-7): Wildcats lost best-of-3 series to Capital Christian, but still SL champions.

5. (3) Bret Harte (21-7): MLL champs upset in playoff opener, but still serve their top-5 ranking.
