TANGO LESSONS

When: Saturday, 11 a.m., and Sunday, noon

Where: Modesto Fitness & Racquet Club, 200 Norwegian Ave.

Info: Negracha and Diego Lanau, fixtures on Buenos Aires' tango scene, will lead workshops focusing on basic tango technique, the early tango rhythms of the milonga and Argentine waltz. TANGO PARTY

Info: Negracha and Diego Lanau will be guest artists at Modesto Tango's next milonga (tango party). An introductory lesson will start at 7:30 p.m. with open dancing at 8:30 and a short performance at 10:15. There will be a $5 cover charge for those wishing to dance or watch. SENIOR INFORMATION DAY

Info: Senior citizens are invited to Oakdale's eighth annual Senior Information Day. A ROTA shuttle will take seniors from the Gladys Lemmons Senior Center to the community center. Activities include information tables, health screenings, door prizes and workshops on senior hostels and emergency preparedness. A free box lunch will be provided by Samaritan Village. Lunch tickets are available until today at the Senior Center, 450 E. A St. The event is presented by the Oakdale Senior Forum/Stanislaus Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance. CHILDREN'S LIFEGUARD TRAINING

When: Monday through June 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Escalon High pool, 1528 Yosemite Ave.

Info: The American Red Cross program GuardStart prepares children ages 11-14 to become lifeguards. Each session builds on the skills learned in the previous session. There are no prerequisites for any of the classes. It is recommended that each child participate in all three sessions. Future sessions are July 6-9 and Aug. 3-6.
