Ceres man stabbed at Modesto pizzeria popular with kids

A 33-year-old Ceres man is hospitalized in serious condition after being stabbed in the back during an altercation at a north Modesto pizzeria.

Police Sgt. Brian Findlen said an officer responded to a call at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday about a fight involving several men inside John’s Incredible Pizza, 2225 Plaza Parkway. The restaurant is popular with families and children.

The fight moved out to the parking lot and the combatants left before the officer arrived, Findlen said. Someone inside the business noticed blood, and a hospital representative called the police to report a possible stabbing victim had come to the emergency room. And witnesses told the officer the victim was one of three men who teamed to fight two others. A third man joined in on the opposing side, and reportedly is the one who did the stabbing.

After further investigation, officers arrested Panfilo Sarabia Preciado, 48, at a home on the 3200 block of Sagittarius Avenue in Ceres. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge. The victim’s name was not released.
