Arrests made in double homicide in Winton

Arrests have been made in last week's double homicide in Winton, officials with the Merced County Sheriff's Department said Thursday.

But details about the arrests -- including the names of those arrested -- were not released. A news conference regarding the arrests is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.

Sheriff's spokesman deputy Tom MacKenzie said several searches were made Thursday in connection with the homicides.

Winton residents Andres Rodriguez, 21, and Abraham Valenzuela, 18, were shot outside a residence on the 7000 block of Peridot Avenue about 9:30 p.m. on May 26. Three other people were injured in the shooting.
