An employee at the Save Mart in downtown Modesto was stabbed Thursday afternoon when he caught two people trying to steal $100 worth of groceries, police said.
The employee suffered a stab wound to his right biceps, said Modesto police Sgt. Brian Findlen. The employee was treated for minor injuries by medics at the scene but declined to be taken to a hospital for further treatment.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the Save Mart in the 1800 block of H Street. The employee spotted the suspects trying to steal groceries. The suspects stabbed the employee as they left the groceries and fled.
Officers searched but did not find the suspects.
Police described the first suspect as a white man, 20 to 25 years old, with short, light-brown hair, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds. The second suspect is described as a white woman in her 20s with blond hair in a ponytail, black tank top, green capri pants, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 110 pounds.
