Police on Wednesday chased down and arrested a 20-year-old man suspected in two burglaries in northeast Modesto.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a break-in on the 2300 block of McRitchie Way, Sgt. Brian Findlen said.
The teen resident reported that a man had knocked on the front door. When she didn't answer, he tried to break in through a back door. The suspect ran away. Later Wednesday, officers from the department's economic and property crimes unit saw a man who matched the description of the suspect riding a bicycle near Peppermint Drive and Oakdale Road.
Officers identified the man, Joseph Park of Modesto, as the suspect in an earlier vehicle burglary along with the home burglary attempt, Findlen said. When he tried to run, officers used a Taser and took him into custody in the 2100 block of Wylie Drive. Park was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of residential and vehicle burglary and resisting arrest.
