Authorities on Wednesday released the name of the second person who died in a shooting at a west Modesto home early Monday.
Stanislaus County coroner's officials worked for three days to confirm the identity of Merced resident Gao Sheng Her, 23, before they released her name.
She and Nhia Yang, 27, of Modesto were shot and killed at the home in the 1700 block of Radley Place, said Modesto police spokesman Sgt. Brian Findlen.
A third victim in Monday's shooting, a 21-year-old Modesto man, remained hospitalized Wednesday. Findlen said the man was listed in serious condition with nonlife-threatening injuries. Police did not release his name to ensure his safety.
The shooting occurred about 5:20 a.m. on Radley, a few blocks south of Rouse Avenue and east of Paradise Road.
Shortly after shots rang out, police arrested Tou Vang Xiong, 25, of Atwater on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and using a firearm to commit a homicide. He was being held Wednesday afternoon at the Stanislaus County Jail without bail.
Police would not discuss possible motives, the relationship between Xiong and the victims or say how — or if — the victims were related. Detectives said they do not believe the attack was random.
