The Stanislaus County Fair opens on today. It’s Modesto Bee Night at the Fair, benefiting United Samaritans; bring a canned food item and get $2 off one adult admission. Here's what you need to know about tonight:
HIGHLIGHTS: 4-H Farmyard Experience, 5-10 p.m.; Rainforest Adventure exhibit, 5-11 p.m.; Apple Pie contest, 6 p.m.; Clean & Green Expo, 5-11 p.m.
ARENA: Tuff Trucks plus Monster Trucks, 7:30 p.m., $8 in addition to fair admission.
VARIETY FREE STAGE: Grand Funk Railroad, 8:30 p.m.

CENTER STAGE:> Chico Avila, 8:30-11 p.m.
COMMUNITY STAGE: Double Take, 5:45-8:30 p.m.
CHARTER STAGE: Hypnotist Suzy Haner, 8:30 and 10 p.m.
HOURS: Gates open at 5 p.m.; exhibit buildings close at 11 p.m.; carnival closes at 1 a.m.
PARK ’N’ RIDE: 4:30-11 p.m.; park free and ride free from CSU Stanislaus (Crowell off Monte Vista) or Pitman High (Christoffersen Parkway). Shuttles run every 15-20 minutes.
WHERE: From Highway 99, exit at Fulkerth Road in Turlock and head east. For fairgrounds parking, turn right on Soderquist Road, or go past Soderquist for more parking; $4 per vehicle.
ADMISSION: $10 for adults ($8 today with a can of food), $3 for children age 6 to 12, and free for age 5 and younger.
