Stanislaus Fair honors late TV cameraman George Stallings

The Stanislaus County Fair has created an award in honor of the late George Stallings, who with his wife Ellen founded the Stanislaus County Report television news show.

Pennie Rorex, the fair’s communications director, presented Ellen with the award today at the fair’s annual media luncheon. The award honored the couple for their coverage of the fair last year. George died Feb. 13.

The George Stallings Memorial Award will be presented annually.

Also at the media luncheon, Rorex announced that the Western Fairs Association awarded Modesto Bee photographer Bart Ah You first place in news photos for a picture he took of a rodeo cowboy tackling a steer at last year’s fair.
