A Modesto man was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run after a collision that killed four men and injured a woman Monday near Five Points.
The California Highway Patrol said a two-trailer big rig driven by Hector Escalante, 35, was eastbound on Oakland Avenue about 5 a.m. when it failed to stop at a posted sign on Lassen Avenue.
Escalante drove into the path of a 1990 Honda, killing the car's four male occupants, the CHP said. A 23-year-old woman in the Honda was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she was treated for minor injuries.
Escalante was arrested later Monday in Modesto.
