DISTRICT 2 -- Southwest Modesto and downtown:

Candidate: Dave Geer

Age: 67

Occupation: Federal security police officer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Priorities: Unemployment, crime, foreclosures, reopening the closed police substation on Paradise Road, restarting the expansion of Highway 132

Candidate: Al Nava

Age: 35

Occupation: A Navy veteran, Nava soon will start as a student in public administration at California State University, Stanislaus.

Priorities: Gangs, making Modesto a city that young people want to live in, making the city more environmentally friendly
