Police detained five men Friday who were making a video inside a downtown Modesto business after a passer-by spotted the men carrying toy guns and called 911, a department spokesman said.
The incident occurred about noon at Modesto Virtual, a video game arcade on 10th Street between J and I streets. Officers questioned the men and later released them. No arrests were made, said Modesto police Sgt. Craig Gundlach.
He said the business employees knew the video was being made. The employees declined to comment about the nature of the video. The passer-by called 911, fearing the business was being robbed, Gundlach said.
Officers arrived with their guns drawn and detained the men with the toy guns. Gundlach said the officers searched the business as a precaution to make sure nobody else was inside. No injuries were reported, and no guns were found.
