The Fire on the Mountain Sonora Blues Festival, held today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., will feature three stages of music at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive, Sonora. Performers include Coco Montoya, the Paul Thorn Band, Johnny Winter, Watermelon Slim and The Workers, Jason Ricci and New Blood, Shane Dwight, the MoFo Party Band, Chains Required, Rhythm Deluxe and Mike Hammar and the Nails. SHAKESPEARE IN APPLEGATE PARK

Merced Shakespearefest will present an outdoor production of "Love's Labour's Lost" today at

10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Applegate Park, 690 W. 16th St., Merced. The comedy centers on four men who decide to give up women for three years so they can pursue their studies. But as soon as women appear, they forget their vows and begin secret courtships. There is no charge. Call 723-3265.
