Hailee Cunha, 11, of Oakdale, returned to her family and friends with fanfare Wednesday night, after suffering an accident while practicing at the USA Gymnastics facility in Modesto, where she fell from the bars and landed on her head. She was operated on twice at UC-Davis Medical Center, where they removed blood clots to relieve pressure on the brain. Part of her skull is missing from the operation, and she will have to wear a helmet for protection, but doctors told her parents she's back to about 80 percent of normal function. She returned home in time to spend Thanksgiving Day with family and friends.
