CERES — A 32-year-old man was stabbed to death late Friday after an argument over loud music reportedly spiraled into an altercation between two families.
Police arrested Ruben Ceja Artega, 40, on suspicion of killing Diego Tovar with a make-shift weapon.
Two of Tovar's brothers, ages 25 and 31, were injured in the fight as well, Ceres Police Sgt. Patrick Sullivan said.
Police were called to a report of a fight in Pine Ridge Apartments in the 1300 block of Richland Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Friday.

They found Tovar's family members delivering CPR to him. He was taken to a Modesto hospital and died later in the night.
Sullivan said police were not called with a complaint about loud music before the fight broke out.
"It was just one of these things where people were fighting over loud music on a Friday night, and unfortunately we believe alcohol was involved, and as a result we have one person dead," he said.
Tovar's family is believed to have complained about the loud music, leading to the argument.
Ceres police are still investigating the case, and ask people with information about the incident to call Detective Keith Griebel at 538-5727.
