A car crashed into a utility pole on McHenry Avenue this morning about 8:45, disrupting traffic on the city's main north-south route.
The car was badly damaged. The man driving the car and a woman passenger did not appear to be hurt, although the woman was taken in a private vehicle to a hospital for examination.
The wood utility pole was leaning at a sharp angle while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.
The accident occurred between Rumble Road and Kavanaugh Avenue, near the vacant Mervyns department store. The car was heading north when the accident happened.
