Salida motel fire injures mother, children

A woman and her two children suffered from smoke inhalation Tuesday morning after their Salida motel room caught fire, officials said. They were taken to an area hospital, said relief engineer Ed Bartley with the Salida Fire Protection District. He did not have an update on their condition Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported about 2 a.m. at the Don Pedro Motel, in the 4700 block of Salida Boulevard. Bartley said the fire damaged one motel room and its contents. He said the cause is under investigation.

Bartley said the children were under age 5.
