A Manteca man was struck by a train — and lived.
Jack Swanson, 30, was walking along the Union Pacific tracks between Yosemite Boulevard and South Main Street when he heard a northbound train, according to Sgt. Julie Renfroe of the Manteca Police Department.
He stepped off the tracks and thought he was far enough away when the train struck his left arm and dragged him 50 feet, Renfroe said.
She said Swanson was able to walk back to Yosemite Boulevard, where he was able to get help. He suffered a six-inch cut to his arm, and it may also have been broken, Renfroe said.
