A car and pickup truck collided at a downtown Modesto intersection Tuesday morning, knocking a sign through an office window, police said.
A woman inside the building injured her hand when she jumped out of the way. She was taken to a Modesto hospital with minor injuries, officer Daniel Starr said. No one else was injured in the 8:29 a.m. accident at H and 15th streets.
Starr said a Chevrolet S10 pickup was traveling south on 15th Street as it approached the intersection. Starr said the pickup stopped at the stop sign and then drove in front of vehicles driving west on H street and collided with a Honda Accord.
The pickup deflected off the Accord and entered the sidewalk and hit a wooden sign. The sign crashed through a window of the California Rural Legal Assistance office.
Starr said the accident is under investigation but the pickup driver -- Modesto resident Richard Serchio, 49 -- was cited for lack of insurance.
