A Modesto man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter in a Sunday morning crash that killed his female passenger, the California Highway Patrol reported. The CHP arrested Abraham Perez, 22, in the 6:17 a.m. accident on Hatch Road, east of Carpenter Road, according to a news release. The name of Perez's passenger was not released pending notification of her family. Her age and city of residence were not available. Perez was driving a 1995 BMW 540i west on Hatch Road at a high rate of speed, according to the news release, when he lost control of his car when the road curved. The car left the road and hit an almond tree. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. After Perez was arrested, he was taken to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
