A fire displaced residents at a home in north Modesto after flames gutted a bathroom and left behind smoke and water damage, fire officials said. No injuries were reported, and nobody was home when the fire started.
The fire occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at a single-story house in the 1200 block of Thieman Road, just east of Tully Road. Firefighters arrived and found flames in the bathroom, said Division Chief John Barton of the Salida Fire Protection District.
Barton said the firefighters contained the flames to the bathroom and had the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
The fire gutted the bathroom and caused smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. The home also sustained some minor water damage.
The cause of the fire had not been determined.
