The second local protest against Iran in as many weeks is scheduled today in Turlock. Iran has been rife with civil unrest since last summer's re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which many say was rigged. Robert Davood, 40, and others have organized protests to show support for the opposition in their homeland. Turlock is home to a large and growing Iranian community, mostly comprising Assyrian and Chaldean Christians who have fled the Islamic republic because of political persecution. Today's event is set for 3 to 6 p.m. at Monte Vista Avenue and Countryside Drive.
