Businesses and government agencies will sport red Friday for National Wear Red Day, part of Heart Month, designed to draw attention to heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women.
McHenry Village will hold a Wear Red event from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the shopping center, 1700 McHenry Ave.
Foster Farms dairy will be on hand; strawberry milk samples will be offered, and children can have a photo taken with Crystal, the "Cool Cow."
Jiffy Lube outlets also have a Go Red for Women campaign, and the city of Riverbank is planning to festoon the town with red bows.
Organizers said the event is intended to educate and empower women to take action to help their health.
