A suspicious two-alarm fire tore through a vacant Riverbank home early Wednesday, according to the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District.
No injuries were reported.
The fire occurred about 3:30 a.m. at the home on Stanislaus Street, just east of Callander Avenue. Battalion Chief Paul Spani said the two-story house was being renovated.
He said the fire appeared to have started near the stairway and spread to both floors. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 45 minutes, and the fire was completely out 30 minutes later.

Spani said the fire damaged the first floor, destroyed the stairway, and damaged rooms on the second floor and the basement.
Spani said the fire’s cause had not been determined, but the blaze appeared suspicious.
Oakdale Fire Department and Escalon Fire Protection District assisted in putting out the fire.
