Third- and fourth-grade students at Fremont Elementary and Fremont Open Plan schools participated in Pioneer Days on Friday.
The social studies curriculum included an "Oregon Trail" theme teaching students how to ford rivers, barter for goods, and hunt wildlife for food.
Students also were treated to a real-life, horse-drawn wagon ride courtesy of Indian Valley Carriage out of Novato.
