The Bet-Nahrain Cultural Center will hold a census assistance event this week. Local government leaders will be on hand with interpreters who can speak Hmong, Cambodian, Assyrian, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic and Punjabi. Cities and the county are encouraging people to return their census forms because federal funding for many services is tied to population. The event is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the center, 3119 Central Ave. in Ceres.
