Modesto Junior College will host a discussion of two recent proposals to create solar farms in Stanislaus County.
Titled "Modesto Irrigation District's 25-Megawatt Solar Panel Project: Moving Modesto Towards Greener Energy," this free event will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in Forum 110 on the east campus.
The forum will feature presentations by four panelists, and there will be time for audience questions and comments.
The program will begin with Jeff Brothers, managing director at Sol Orchard, the company hoping to install photovoltaic panels at the Geer Road Landfill. The closed landfill has been covered with dirt and a protective membrane that cannot be disturbed.
