Modesto's development fee task force will hold its first meeting Monday night. The 14-member task force, a mix of citizens and representatives from the building and real estate industries, will analyze the fees Modesto charges new businesses and developers. The fees pay for sewers, roads and other improvements needed when new development happens.
Some say Modesto's fees are too high and stifle economic development. Others say lowering the fees will leave the city unable to pay for infrastructure.
The task force meets from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Alliance Free Enterprise Center, 1020 Tenth St., Suite 102.
