School violence focus of Modesto seminar

Parents and their children are invited to attend a violence prevention conference Saturday at Mark Twain Junior High School in west Modesto.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Guest speakers will discuss online bullying, gangs, drug and alcohol abuse and other issues affecting children's success in school.

The conference will be held in the school's gym at 707 S. Emerald Ave. in Modesto. It is co-sponsored by Modesto City Schools and the California Parent Information Resource Center. There will be entertainment, snacks and raffle prizes. Child care will be available.
