Deputies look for Sonora robber

Tuolumne County sheriff's officials on Friday were looking for a man who robbed a Sonora clothing store Thursday night and got away with about $100 in cash, a department spokesman said. No injuries were reported.

Sgt. Jeff Wilson said the robbery occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the Fashion Bug in the Junction Shopping Center in the 13700 block of Mono Way. The robber entered the store wearing a bandanna over the lower half of his face.

Wilson said the robber had one hand in his sweat-shirt pocket, possibly concealing a handgun. The robber never brandished a gun, and shots were not fired.

Wilson said the robber demanded all the money in the cash register. There were two female employees in the store at the time, and both complied with the robber's orders.

He took the cash and left.

Sheriff's officials described the robber as a white man in his early 30s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds and wearing blue jeans, a dark-blue or black-hooded sweat shirt, a black bandanna and dark, wire-rimmed glasses.

Investigators ask anyone with information about this robbery to call the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department at 533-5815.
