The Stanislaus County district attorney's office and several community organizations will offer information about gang violence and its victims today on the Stanislaus County Courthouse lawn at 11th and I streets in downtown Modesto.
The event, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., is part of National Victims' Rights Week. There will be information about gang violence, elder abuse, crimes against children, domestic violence, victims' rights, crime prevention and more.
Off-duty Modesto firefighters will serve free grilled hot dogs for attendees, who will be able to place a heart on the memorial tree in support of victims.
If it rains, the event will be on the first floor of the parking garage at 832 12th St. in Modesto, across from the courthouse.
