Modesto City Council Watch

The Modesto City Council on Tuesday voted 7-0 to:

Acquire 2,751 square feet of property at Sylvan Avenue and Boyce Lane for $11,200 so the city can build a right- turn lane to relieve traffic congestion at Beyer High School

Award a $260,761 contract to Hansel Ford of Santa Rosa for two service trucks with air compressors for the Public Works Department

Add $100,000 to a cost-sharing agreement with the Del Puerto Water District to pay for a feasibility study on selling Modesto's waste water to the water district

Approve a $245,179 contract with NorthStar Engineering Group of Chico for a preliminary design report for a water storage tank and pump station on Codoni Avenue

Work with Ceres, Turlock and Stanislaus County on a proposal to sell waste water to the Del Puerto Water District

Accept the citizens' salary-setting commission's recommendation for the mayor and council members' salaries to remain at up to $3,600 per month for the mayor and up to $2,000 per month for council members

The council met in closed session to discuss appointing a new city auditor and negotiations on acquiring rights of way at 14th and D streets, South Morton Boulevard and 10th Street, and South Morton Boulevard and 11th Street.
