Authorities are looking for the driver of an SUV that struck a 17-year-old Riverbank boy in a felony hit-and-run last week.
The incident occurred near Patterson Road at 8:30 p.m. April 22, Stanislaus County Sheriff's Detective Mark Copeland said. As the boy crossed Patterson Road, he saw the car bearing down upon him and tried to get out of the way.
The sport utility vehicle hit his shoulder, and he suffered head injuries when he hit the ground, Copeland said.
A nearby resident heard the accident and went outside to find the boy lying in the road and called 911. The boy told deputies the vehicle was white and a smaller SUV, such as a Chevrolet Blazer or Ford Explorer.
