• ESSAY CONTEST

Info: As part of the bicentennial celebration of Abraham Lincoln's birth, middle school and high school students are invited to enter a Lincoln essay contest with awards of $500 and $250 in each category. Students are encouraged to write a 1,200-word essay based on the following prompt: If Abraham Lincoln were here today, what evidence would he see that his efforts while president had made an impact in our country? Info: The Republican Party of Stanislaus County's monthly meeting will feature a panel presentation of the five initiatives on the June 8 ballot. The program will be followed by a brief business meeting. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Info: The Ripon Relay for Life will hold a survivor meeting for anyone who has or is dealing with cancer. There will be a guest speaker, refreshments and snacks. Anyone who has battled cancer is welcome.

Where: Pitman High School, 2525 W. Christoffersen Parkway

Info: The Pitman High School girls swim team and Central Valley Aquatics will hold a barbecue tri-tip sandwich drive-through. Proceeds to benefit youth aquatic programs.
