It's Monday for Mother Nature, too. She's in a damp, cloudy mood.
Light rain fell on Modesto intermittently this morning and in the early afternoon. As of 5 p.m., the Modesto Irrigation District had recorded just 0.09 of an inch of rain downtown, and the temperature had topped out at 62.
The forecast called for showers plus a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Gusty winds are expected, although they should diminish after midnight.
It should be chilly overnight, with low temperatures ranging from just 38 to 45 degrees.
A better day is in store Tuesday, which should be mostly sunny with highs ranging from 62 to 72 in the Sierra foothills and the Northern San Joaquin Valley, respectively.
