Knights Ferry motorcyclist killed in solo crash

A Knights Ferry man died Tuesday evening after crashing his motorcycle on Orange Blossom Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The Stanislaus County coroner's office identified the man as 57-year-old Gregg Haskell. He was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson east about 7:05 p.m. at 45 mph. Haskell drifted off the road and onto the dirt shoulder as he traveled through a moderate, flat curve, according to the CHP.

The motorcycle struck an asphalt curb at the entrance of the Honolulu Bar Recreation Area. Haskell was thrown from his bike and hit an oak tree. He died at Oak Valley Hospital.

The accident happened west of Horseshoe Road between Knights Ferry and Oakdale.
