Modesto police investigate shooting outside bar

A bar patron told Modesto police that a man who confronted him in a parking lot early Friday morning fired several shots as he ran back into the tavern. No one was injured but a bullet struck a parked car.

The incident happened just after the 2 a.m. closing of El Rodeo bar at 228 Maze Boulevard.

A 28-year-old Modesto man said he was standing near the parking lot when the assailant approached him and pulled a handgun from his waistband.

The victim described the suspect as a man about 18 to 20 years old and wearing dark clothing. He was last seen running north on Madison Street.
