Fire rages through downtown Turlock properties

Buildings on three properties went up in flames in downtown Turlock Monday afternoon, sending up plumes of smoke that were visible miles away.

The fire consumed sheds and wood pallets on three properties at the corner of South First and D streets around 3:52 p.m., said police Lt. Steve Williams.

No one was injured, he said.

Fire officials declared the blaze under control at 6:10 p.m., Williams said.

Police and fire officials do not yet know the cause of the fire.

Firefighters from Turlock City, Turlock Rural, Denair and Keyes fire departments were on the scene.
