The Modesto City Council will consider the following items this evening:
A proposal to shift $491,000 in Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds from home buyer assistance to rehabilitation projects. The city must commit the federal funds by mid-September or the money could be lost. Four potential home buyers could lose funding.
Appointment of Councilmen Brad Hawn and Garrad Marsh to the Regional Surface Water Supply Project steering committee and approval of an agreement with Ceres, Hughson and Turlock to share the costs of preparing a $237,000 water management plan. Modesto and the three cities are working with the Turlock Irrigation District on a plan to treat Tuolumne River water and distribute it to customers.
Approval of the city budget and capital improvement program for the fiscal year that starts July 1
A proposal to commit future funding from Redevelopment Agency Housing Set-Aside and City HOME funds for the Tower Park affordable housing project at 17th and G streets. Funding for Tower Park became uncertain when the city lost $2.4 million in redevelopment money to the state budget fix last month. The proposed council action would enable the developer to apply for other government funding.
The City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the basement chambers of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
