It's likely to be a hotly contested Turlock City Council election in November, but one name won't appear on the ballot.
Councilman Kurt Spycher said Friday he won't be running for a second term on the council.
"On one hand, I believe I could play an effective role in helping to complete many projects that remain undone as well as address issues that are still unresolved," he said in a statement.
"On the other hand, after much thought and prayer, I believe all the energy spent on city issues will be better spent enjoying time with my wife, my two teenage children, my friends, as well as getting more involved in my local church." Spycher said he was proud of the work accomplished during his term.
The terms of Councilman Ted Howze and Mayor John Lazar also expire this year.
