Tuolumne County sheriff’s officials were looking for a suspicious man who offered a ride to a group of children waiting for a school bus this morning along Parrotts Ferry Road.
The incident occurred about 7:30 a.m. as the Columbia Elementary School students were walking to the bus stop at Parrotts Ferry Road and Columbia Village Drive.
The man, driving a newer model navy-blue Jeep, approached the children from behind, said sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jeff Wilson
Wilson said the man asked the children if they had missed there bus before offering them a ride.
The children ran away. Wilson said a woman then approached the man, but he drove away slowly, watching the children in a suspicious manner.
Sheriff’s officials described the man in his 50s or 60s with short gray hair, green or blue eyes, full teeth, no facial hair and thin eyebrows. He was wearing reading glasses and a zip-up khaki windbreaker.
