Four residents escaped injury during the weekend when four men forced their way into their south Modesto house at gunpoint, police said today.
What police describe as a home invasion took place around 9:10 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Crater Avenue, according to Sgt. Rick Armendariz, spokesman for the Modesto Police Department.
The four men, described as Latino with three in their late teens and the other in his 30s, apparently knocked on the door.
When the homeowner answered, the four forced their way inside. The person who answered the door, along with three others in the home, made their way out safely, Armendariz said.
Armendariz did not have the ages of the occupants.
The men allegedly stole cash and miscellaneous items, including jewelry, and fled the area in a van before police arrived.
