Two suspected of stealing scrap metal in Turlock

Turlock police arrested two men this morning after they allegedly stole scrap metal from Bonander Truck, Auto and Trailer Group, police said.

Police were called to the business at 2:26 this morning after an employee reported that there were two people stealing scrap metal from their yard.

The employee tried to block them in by closing the gate, but the suspects rammed the fence and fled, police said.

Officers heading to the business at 4520 N. Golden State Blvd. redirected and stopped their car on Highway 99 near Taylor Road, police said.

Arrested were Cody Clayton, 19, and Rodney Burgess, 41, on charges on conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.

Police said the pair also are suspected of stealing items from the business for a week, and were caught on video.
