Probe continues in Ceres motel shooting death

Ceres police on Saturday did not release any new details about the shooting death of man found just outside a motel room Friday morning. Authorities have identified the man, but Ceres police did not release his name. About 7:15 a.m. Friday, a motel guest found the man on the ground outside Room 133 at the Howard Johnson Express Inn, 1672 Herndon Road in Ceres. Police said the man was found with a single gunshot wound in his back. The victim was not a registered guest at the motel. People interviewed at the scene did not hear a gunshot, and police had not recovered a weapon. It was unclear whether the shooting occurred at the motel. Police did not have a description of a suspect or a vehicle that could have been used in the shooting.
