Early Halloween fire destroys Modesto home

A fire destroyed a vacant home in Central Modesto early Halloween morning.

Modesto firefighters responded to a fire at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Orange Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Dan Hinshaw.

When they arrived, flames were visible from both first- and second-story windowsHinshaw said it took four engines and one truck about 15 minutes to quell the flames.

No one was injured but the fire resulted in an estimated $200,000 in damage.
