A Fremont Elementary School crossing guard suffered injuries after being struck in the crosswalk by a car this morning, authorities said.
The sixth-grade girl was within the crosswalk on a green light when a car traveling south on Tully Road turned east on Orangeburg Avenue and struck the student at about 8:30 a.m..
The student, who suffered minor injuries, was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons, according to Sgt. Rick Armendariz of the Modesto Police Department.
After striking the student, the car then hit two parked cars. The driver pulled over immediately.
Armendariz said that once the investigation into the accident is complete, it’ll be determined who’s at fault and if the driver will be cited.
The accident occurred at about 8 a.m. Part of the intersection was closed for traffic.
